Student Position: Research Assistant 4
pOSITION rOLE: rESEARCH GRAPHICS aSSISTANT
We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented student to assist with producing high-quality, publication-ready figures for research manuscripts, presentations, and reports. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of visual design, be proficient in relevant tools, and be able to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and visually compelling graphics.
Responsibilities:
- Design and produce professional, high-resolution figures for academic papers, inspired by the visual standards of Nature, Science, and other leading journals
- Collaborate closely with the research team to translate technical content into visually intuitive diagrams, charts, and illustrations
- Refine existing figures to enhance clarity, consistency, and visual impact
- Create custom illustrations, conceptual diagrams, model architecture visualizations, and data-driven plots
- Ensure all visuals are aligned with the formatting and stylistic requirements of target journals or conferences
- Manage multiple figure versions and adapt them based on feedback
Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in graphic design and scientific visualization tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, BioRender, Figma, or equivalent
- A good eye for design, color harmony, layout, and typography in scientific communication
- Basic understanding of scientific concepts in computer science, biology, or psychology is desirable but not required
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to deliver high-quality work within deadlines
- Portfolio of previous work or design samples is highly recommended
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High attention to details to ensure collecting and preparing high quality data
- Familiar with CSV/Excel files
- Good communication skills
